The Ellettsville, Indiana, Town Council met in a work session at 6:30 p.m., Wednesday, October 11, 2000. Members present were Geraldine McIntyre, President; Jerry Pittsford, Vice President; David Sorokoty, and David Drake. Members not present: Mike Cornman.

Proposed changes to the Personnel Policy as follows:

Changing the term sick days to leave days

Reducing earned leave days from 12 to 10 per year

Changing the word forever to a limited number of leave days allowed to accumulate

Allowing a certain amount of accumulated leave days (182-185) to be converted to severance pay upon retirement at an estimated pay out of $20 to $25 days per year.

Eliminate the transferring of leave days

Establish a leave bank, which would consist of each participating employee donating 1 leave day per year. This would be used by employees having a catastrophic illness or problem and controlled by an employee committee.

Clarifying the calculation of benefit time due a person leaving employment in good standing and prorating vacation

Addition of a time sheet detailing overtime

Requested changes and clarifications:

Addition of a section on Workers Compensation outlining benefits during leave due to injury on the job

Changing the wording for new employee’s vacation enabling them to take their vacation within one year of their first anniversary date rather than the end of the calendar year.

State Road 46 West:

Sandy Hash informed the Council the question has risen as to who has jurisdiction of Highway 46 between Lakewood Drive and Forrest Park Heights Drive. The information has been fax to Mike Spencer, Town Attorney and Rick Coppock Town Engineer for a determination.
