The Ellettsville, Indiana, Town Council met in special session at 6:00 PM, Thursday, October 18, 2001. 

 

Members present were Jerry Pittsford, President; David Sorokoty, Vice President; Michael Cornman, and Geraldine McIntyre.  Sandra Hash, Clerk Treasurer was also present. 

 

Employees attending the meeting were Jim Ragle, Amber Ragle, Lynn Weiss, Kevin Patton, and Alva Bohall.  This provided representation from each town department.

 

Group Health Insurance

 

The purpose of the meeting was to receive group health insurance information.  Cheryl Terry of ISU The May Agency gave a presentation comparing the town’s existing insurance, Starmark, to quotes from Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield and Medical Benefits Mutual.

 

Cheryl addressed questions from both the Council and employees.  A mandatory employee meeting was scheduled for Wednesday, October 24th at 12:30 pm in the Town Hall.  Cheryl will present the insurance information again.  This will allow the employees to participate in the decision and selection of their insurance.  There will be a special session for the final Council vote on October the 29th.

 

Sandra explained she had met with Cheryl and reviewed 5 insurance quotes.  They narrowed the choice down to the two best quotes to present.  After the information was received, the insurance plans offered by the state were cost prohibitive, therefore they were not included in the presentation.

 

Job Descriptions

 

The Council discussed the job description for the new executive assistant.  This will        be a newly created position to assist the council.  After different suggestions were made Mike Cornman volunteered to draft a preliminary job description and return it to the Council for approval.  Jerry requested the position require a minimum of an associate’s degree.

 

Main Street Conference

 

There will be a Main Street Conference in November.  The Council agreed to pay for three people to attend.  The attendees will be members of Ellettsville Main Street Inc.

 

The meeting concluded at 8:00 pm.
