Park and Recreation Board

July 2, 2001

The Ellettsville Parks and Recreation Board met on Monday, July 2, 2001 at the Ellettsville Town Hall. Members present were Darlyne Sowder, President; Art Moynihan, Vice President; Patrick Stoffers, Secretary; L.D. Axsom, and Edwin Macatangay. Also attending the meeting were David Sorokoty, Ellettsville Town Council; and Jim Ragle, Street Commissioner.

MINUTES

Patrick Stoffers made a motion to approve the minutes from May 18, 2001 and June 4, 2001 with corrections. Edwin Macatangay seconded the motion. Motion passed.

OLD BUSINESS

ELLETTSVILLE FAMILY SKATEPARK

Art Moynihan made a motion to approve the lease for the park property between the Richland Township Trustee and the Ellettsville Parks and Recreation Board from July 2, 2001 through July 2, 2011. Edwin Macatangay seconded the motion. Motion passed.

There was general discussion on the proper handling of money collected at the skate park, skate park supervisor guidelines, background checks, and plans for expansion of the park. The board further discussed the formation of a skate park advisory board

Art Moynihan made a motion to accept the supervisor guidelines. Edwin Macatangay seconded the motion. Motion passed.

Edwin Macatangay made a motion to name the leased area Marci Jane Lewis Park. Art Moynihan seconded the motion. Motion passed.

Art Moynihan made a motion to include the Ellettsville Family Skate Park as part of Marci Jane Lewis Park. L.D. Axsom seconded the motion. Motion passed

BASKETBALL COURTS

The board reviewed plans put forward by Coach Dickey to convert the basketball courts from their current 4 half-courts to 3 full-courts. Jim Ragle said his department would take care of the project and it would be entirely funded by donations. Patrick Stoffers made a motion to approve the basketball court project. Edwin Macatangay seconded the motion. Motion passed.

TRANSFER OF FUNDS

The board discussed the shortfall in budget line 211 in the 2001 Parks Budget. Art Moynihan made a motion to transfer $ 300.00 from budget line 115 to budget line 211. L.D. Axsom seconded the motion. Motion passed

2002 BUDGET

The first round of town budget sessions by the Town Council are set for July19, 2001. Patrick Stoffers made a motion to approve the Parks and Recreation proposed budget. Art Moynihan seconded the motion. Motion passed.

Jim Ragle told the board that the Richland Township Trustee was purchasing a new mower at a cost of $7,500.00 to be used at park properties.

Art Moynihan made a motion to adjourn. Patrick Stoffers seconded the motion. Motion passed.
