Park and Recreation Board

May 18, 2001

The Ellettsville Parks and Recreation Board met on Friday, May 18, 2001 at the Ellettsville Town Hall. Members present were Darlyne Sowder, President; Art Moynihan, Vice President; Patrick Stoffers, Secretary; and Edwin Macatangay.

MINUTES

Patrick Stoffers made a motion to approve the amended April 20, 2001 meeting minutes. Edwin Macatangay seconded the motion. Motion passed. Minutes for the May 7, 2001 meeting were tabled.

None.

ELLETTSVILLE FAMILY SKATE PARK

The Parks Board reviewed a previous version of the skate park resolution. There was general discussion regarding waivers, park rules, gate keys, and status of the proposed lease agreement with Richland Township and remaining steps outlined at the May 7^th meeting. The target date for completion is June 4^th.

Plans for ramps for the skate park being done in conjunction with a grant from Lowes were reviewed by the board as well as the proposed layout. The board was notified about the potential for some fund raising activity on June 16^th in association with Housing Solutions, Inc. There is the possibly of having a coke wagon, serving hot dogs, and a live band on site during the project day on June 16^th.

The board discussed the procedure for purchases associated with parks in general and the claim process. There was discussion regarding future expansion of the skate park in the coming years.

The subject of taping park Board meetings was tabled until the June 4, 2001 meeting.
