Railroad tracks by Wickes
Lumber Company
David Sorokoty is a member of the Monon Preservation Group and they met
today. The railroad line has been
abandoned several months ago. The
preservation group decided to give the railroad crossing equipment to Indiana
Railroad. They talked about building a
switchyard along Curry Pike.
CSX has currently four customers, Wickes, Black Lumber, GE and The
Herald-Times. CSX will leave if GE
moves but Indiana Railroad would serve the remaining customers because it is a
short line railroad.
David Sorokoty asked the Council to consider the possibilities and if
and how it could benefit the Town of Ellettsville by having a railroad track
with a truck depot located by Wickes.
Wickes Lumber receives one train car load per month. David suggested the possible idea of using a
train route for commuting to and from
Bloomington twice and day and possibly to Gosport or Spencer and using
the train for a supper train in the evenings.
Mike Cornman said Ellettsville is a conservative community that would
not utilize a train.
David requested a list of each Council members priorities to
review. Geraldine McIntyre said the
Personnel Policy should be important.
Sandy said re-codification should be important as well.

in the Town’s restroom and asked the water heater to be turned down.
