The Ellettsville, Indiana, Town Council met in regular session on Monday, July 12th, 2004 at the Town Hall.  William Evans called the meeting to order at 7:30 PM.  Sandra Hash led in prayer and Dennis Williamson led in the Pledge of Allegiance. 

 

Roll Call: William Evans asked for roll call of the Council Members.  Members present were:  William Evans, Vice-President; Phillip Rogers; Lisa Creech and Dennis Williamson.  Also present were Sandra Hash, Clerk-Treasurer; Wes Marion, Attorney and Jeffrey York, Planning and Zoning Administrator.  Patrick Stoffers, Mike Spencer and Rick Coppock were absent. 

 

Supervisors Present:  Jim Davis, Jim Ragle, Ron McGlocklin, Mike Farmer and Jeff Farmer.

 

Approval of the regular meeting minutes for June 28th, 2004 and Budget meetings for June 23rd and June 30th, 2004

 

Lisa Creech made a motion to approve the minutes for June 28th, 2004.  Phillip Rogers seconded.  Motion carried.

 

Lisa Creech made a motion to approve the minutes for the Budget Meeting of June 23rd, 2004.  Phillip Rogers seconded.  Motion carried.

 

Lisa Creech made a motion to approve the minutes for the Budget Meeting of June 30th, 2004.  Phillip Rogers seconded.  Motion carried.

 

Action to pay Accounts Payable Vouchers

 

Lisa Creech made a motion to pay the accounts payable vouchers.  Phillip Rogers seconded.  Motion carried.

 

Award presented to Geraldine McIntyre

 

Sandra Hash explained Peggy Welch contacted her asking about former Council Member Geraldine McIntyre and her accomplishments while on the Council with the intent of giving her an award.  Indiana Governor Kernan issued her a letter appointing her as the “Saga more of the Wabash” and she also received a lapel pin.  The term “Saga more of the Wabash” was used by North-Eastern Native Americans to describe a great person among the tribe the Chief would look to for wisdom and advice.   The Governor closed by thanking her for all of her contributions to the State of Indiana.      

 

Geraldine McIntyre stated now she can join with her late husband as having received the “Saga more of the Wabash” award and thanked the Council for her award.

 

Accept the bid for the Radio Communications System for the Fire Station

 

Lisa Creech made a motion to accept the bid for the Radio Communications System for the Fire Station from B & L Communications for $98,685.24.  Phillip Rogers seconded.  Motion carried.

 

Resolutions

 

Resolution 20-04 to assign a portion of the Fire bids for Radio Communication System to the Building Corporation

 

Dennis Williamson read the Resolution in its entirety.  Lisa Creech made a motion to accept Resolution 20-04.  Phillip Rogers seconded.  Motion carried.

 

Supervisor’s Comments

 

Ron McGlocklin informed the Council Officer Brian Mobley resigned from the Police Department effective as of July 9th and he has started reviewing applications from the pool to fill his position.

 

Dennis Williamson urged the public to keep their yards and homes nice.  He also congralulated Geraldine on receiving her award for the years of service to the community.

 

Lisa Creech thanked the Chamber of Commerce for letting her speak at the Leadership Luncheon. 

 

William Evans stated he appreciates the Police Reserves for their dedication.  In June they volunteered 284 hours to the Police Department.  He also stated he appreciated all of the Town employees and supervisors for their work.

 

Sandra Hash stated the Budget’s first publication will be in this week’s Journal.
