Supervisors’ comments

Jim Davis, Ellettsville Fire Department presented the Council members with a Cumulative Fund Balance sheet to show current balances in the funds with an eighteen month projection balance.  An EMS squad vehicle needs to be replaced.  The State bid price is $22,695 for a 4 wheel drive Ford Explorer.  The current squad truck is a 1984 or 1986 ex-military model.  The engine might last a little longer but the body is falling apart.  He is asking the Council to allow the Clerk to do an additional appropriation for $14,000 out of this year’s Cumulative Fire Fund for a down payment on the vehicle and also to purchase a smaller light bar.  Patrick Stoffers instructed Sandra Hash to start the process on this.

Ron McGlocklin, Ellettsville Police Department brought four Reserve Officers that have gone through the mandated training.  Charles Jacobs, Commander of the Reserves, introduced the candidates:  Eric Marker (age 24) currently works at the Owen County Sherriff Department as a Jail Officer; James Deckard (age 22) was previously with the Monroe County Auxiliary Police; Matthew Miller (age 23) currently works at the Owen County Sherriff Department as a Jail Officer and was previously with the Monroe County Auxiliary Police; Curtis Swanson (age 22) currently in the Army National Guard.  William Evans stated both Ron and Charles have spoken to him about these candidates and he has no questions.

Lisa Creech made a motion to accept all of these fine gentlemen into our Reserves.  William Evans seconded.  Motion carried.

Patrick Stoffers congratulated all the gentlemen and reminded them they need to be sworn in soon with the Clerk-Treasurer.

Sandra Hash announced the Chamber of Commerce is having an After Hours July 11, 2007.  It will be at the new business associated with Colorado Steakhouse located in Seminary Hall.  The Chamber of Commerce will also be hosting the Crane Expo in October at the high school.  They invite potential suppliers to introduce themselves to Crane personnel.
