Old Business
Brett has been in contact with
Ms. Jackson from DNR concerning the Parks Master Plan. They have had some good
correspondence, but the bad part is the Master Plan expires in January, so a
new one will need to be submitted. Brett would like to coordinate a meeting
with someone from DNR and members of the Town to work through the ADA
requirements, since the Town’s attorney advised it not be signed.
New Business
Geraldine has been attending the Main
Street meetings and they would like the Parks
Board to hold more activities for the community. Brett agrees and it was
mentioned last month that a haunted trail, Easter egg hunt or other events
would be a great way to provide community awareness of the Parks in Town. The
Parks board is limited with their funds, but volunteers or university students
could be utilized to make these events happen. Brett said this is a great time
of year to work on projects like this since not much happens in the winter
months. Geraldine also said that Main Street would like for the board to
consider putting sides on the shelter houses in Campbell’s Park, and then if
there is bad weather, it wouldn’t interfere with get-togethers.
Edwin Macatangay informed the
board that he will be offering his seat on the Parks board to another member of
the School Board. He has enjoyed serving for the past 6 years, but feels it is
time for someone else to be appointed.
William Evans,
Town Council Member, asked if the Parks board
has considered implementing a fee structure for shelter house rentals. Brett
said it has been passed by the Parks board and will be on the next Town
Council agenda (December
11, 2006).
The meeting was moved to adjourn
by Geraldine McIntyre and seconded by Edwin Macatangay. Motion carried.
