March 6, 2006 Ellettsville Parks and Recreation Board meeting Minutes

The Ellettsville Parks and Recreation Board met on March 6, 2006 at the Fire Department Training and Conference Center. Members present were Edwin Macatangay, Vice President; Geraldine McIntyre, Amber Ragle, and Michael Griffey. Brett Williamson was absent.

Approve Minutes of February 6, 2006

Michael Griffey made a motion to accept the minutes for the February meeting. Geraldine McIntyre seconded. Motion carried.

Approve Accounts Payable/Review Expenditures

The expenditures for the month were discussed.

New Business

Ron Glasscock, representing the Men of Hope Ministry for House of Prayer Ellettsville, presented a letter of request to use the Park facilities on Park Street April 29, 2006 from 1:00 to 5:00 pm for a Community Fun Fair. They are trying to make this an annual event. The first year there was free food, music, games, community awareness booths, pony rides, horseshoe tournaments and basketball. There was close to 400 people in attendance. Mr. Glasscock said the Town Council approved the closing of Park Street.

Michael Griffey suggested putting a notice in the newspaper informing the citizens the road will be closed. He also said they did a great job cleaning up after the last event and there was no damage. Geraldine agreed.

Mr. Glasscock also asked if they would be able to use the new Fall Festival building and stage, and if there would be electricity and picnic tables in there by then. Geraldine informed him that is owned by the Fall Festival and he would have to get in contact with Cullen McCarty, Fall Festival President to get permission.

There was some discussion on whether or not this date would conflict with the RBBYS Opening Day Jamboree. Edwin made a phone call and found out the jamboree is also scheduled for April 29^th. There was discussion about parking issues and possibly rescheduling. Mr. Glasscock said he would look at other possible dates.

Michael Griffey made a motion to approve the use of the Park facilities for the House of Prayer Community Fun Fair on a future date pending Ellettsville Town Council approval. Geraldine McIntyre seconded. Motion carried.

Amber informed the board that $31.00 was received in Coke Machine Proceeds for the month.

The meeting was moved to adjourn by Michael Griffey and seconded by Geraldine McIntyre. Motion carried. Meeting adjourned at 7:30 pm.
