The Ellettsville, Indiana, Town Council met in a Special Organizational session on Monday, January 7, 2008, at the Fire Department Training and Conference Room.  Dan Swafford called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m.

 

Roll Call:  Members present were Dan Swafford, Dianna Bastin, David Drake, Brian Mobley and Phill Smith.  Sandra Hash, Clerk Treasurer was also present.

 

Supervisors Present:   Jim Davis, Jim Ragle and Mike Farmer

 

Election of Officers

 

Phill Smith nominated Dan Swafford for President Ellettsville Town Council.  Brian Mobley seconded.  Roll call vote:  Dan Swafford – yes; Dianna Bastin – yes; Phill Smith – yes; Brian Mobley – yes; David Drake – yes.  Motion carried 5-0.

 

Dan Swafford nominated Dianna Bastin for Vice President.  Phill Smith seconded.  Roll call vote:  Dan Swafford – yes; Dianna Bastin – yes; Phill Smith – yes; Brian Mobley – yes; David Drake – yes.  Motion carried 5-0.

To Reappoint or Replace Mike Griffey (D) (term ended 2007):  Mike Griffey will stay

Dan Swafford made the motion to appoint Phillip Rogers to the Redevelopment Commission.  David Drake seconded.  Motion carried.

Phill Smith made the motion to appoint Darlyne Sowder to the Redevelopment Commission.  Dianna Bastin seconded.  Motion carried.

 

Monroe County Ambulance Advisory Board - Jim Davis

Monroe County Emergency Management Advisory – Jim Davis

Monroe County Solid Waste Management Board – Dan Swafford

Ellettsville Chamber of Commerce – Sandra Hash

 

Mike Farmer requested that both Christmas Eve and New Years Eve be changed to the day after Christmas and New Years Day to allow the employees to be off on Thursday and Friday rather than Wednesday and Thursday.  Jim Ragle stated his employees have discussed this and would prefer the day after in 2008.  The Council agreed to allow December 26 instead of the 24 and January 2 instead of December 31 to be observed as holidays.

 

Sandra presented the meeting schedule for 2008.  All meetings will be held at the Fire Department Training and Conference Room, 5080 West State Road 46, Bloomington, Indiana 47404 unless otherwise notified.

 

The Ellettsville Town Council meetings will be the second and fourth Monday of each month at 7:30 PM, except for the following changes:

 

The second meeting in May will be Tuesday the 27th due to Memorial Day

 

The Parks and Recreation Board meetings are the first Monday of each month at 5:30 PM, except for the following changes:

 

            The February meeting will be Tuesday the 12th

            The May meeting will be Wednesday the 7th

            The September meeting will be Tuesday the 2nd

The November meeting will be Wednesday the 5th

 

The Planning and Zoning Board meetings are scheduled for the first Thursday of each month at 7:00 PM, except for the following changes:

 

            The January meeting will be the second Thursday on the 10th

            The July meeting will be the second Thursday on the 10th

 

The Redevelopment Commission meetings are scheduled for the third Thursday of each month at 7:00 PM.         

 

The Board of Zoning Appeals will meet on demand.

 

Sandra informed the Council that the Parks and Recreation Board and Plan Commission and Redevelopment have all approved their dates.

 

Dianna Bastin would like to cancel the last meeting of the year due to the holidays.  In the past there has been a recess in the summer and since it is such a busy time she would prefer a recess during the Christmas Holidays.  Sandra explained the last meeting was needed to approve the year end transfers and encumbrances.  

 

Dianna Bastin felt we should wait on approving the meeting dates until the newly appointed Board and Commission members could review them.
