Public Comment
Dianna Bastin, Town Council told the Board about the
little boy who asked the Town Council why Ellettsville did not have a tree
lighting ceremony. Dianna has been working
on this project all year and will be using money from the Town Promotion appropriation
to plant three Norway spruce trees in the park.
The trees will be decorated with lights.
They would like to have a tree lighting ceremony Saturday, December 6 and
invited the Parks Board to attend.
Dianna had help from Ron Wayt and Mike Farmer. Ron Wayt would like to put together a small
program with the schools’ involvement.
Dianna would like to keep it small this year. Michael Griffey suggested Dianna speak with
the Street Department before planting the
trees. Jimmie Durnil
will ask Amber to remind the Parks Board about the ceremony at the next meeting
(December 1st). Dianna has
not worked out all the details; bring a toy or canned good for the Trustee’s office
and the exact time (maybe 6 p.m.) Jimmie Durnil
stated the Parks Board would be interested in helping out monetarily. Dianna will be applying for grants. There was discussion about the many things
the Shelter House could be used for and other ideas for future tree lighting
ceremonies. Jimmie
Durnil has given the Parks Board support.
Adjournment
Geraldine McIntyre made a motion
to adjourn. Michael Griffey seconded. Motion carried. Meeting adjourned.
